Quick answer
Connect to Wi-Fi before you travel, then install your eSIM from the Burj app by tapping Install, or by scanning the QR code on your order page. When you land, turn on the Burj line for mobile data and turn on data roaming for that line.
Before you start
- Install the eSIM at home, before your flight. You need a stable Wi-Fi connection to download it.
- Make sure your phone supports eSIM and isn't locked to one carrier. Check your model on our supported devices list.
- If you bought on the website, keep the link to your order page. It has your QR code and the codes for manual installation.
A QR code can often only be used once. If an installation fails, message us on WhatsApp with your order number before you try again.
Option 1: Install from the Burj app (iPhone)
- Open the Burj app and go to your eSIM.
- Tap Install eSIM.
- Follow the prompts your iPhone shows to add the plan.
Option 2: Scan the QR code
Open your order page on another screen, or print it, so your phone's camera can scan the code.
- iPhone: open the Camera app and point it at the QR code. Tap the Cellular Plan Detected notification, then tap Continue and Add Cellular Plan.
- Samsung Galaxy: go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM, then scan the QR code.
- Google Pixel: go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM, choose to set up an eSIM, then scan the QR code.
Menu names can differ slightly by phone model and software version.
Option 3: Enter the codes manually
If you can't scan the code, use the manual codes on your order page.
- iPhone: go to Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM (or Add Cellular Plan), tap Enter Details Manually, then enter the codes.
- Android: start adding an eSIM from your SIM settings as in option 2, then choose to enter the code instead of scanning.
When you land
- Turn the Burj eSIM line on and set it as your mobile data line. On iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data, then choose the Burj line.
- Turn on Data Roaming for the Burj line.
- If there's no connection yet, switch Airplane mode on and off, or restart your phone.
Keep data roaming off on your regular line, so your home carrier doesn't charge you for roaming data. See how to keep your number and WhatsApp.
If something goes wrong
Don't delete the eSIM from your settings, because it may not be possible to install it again. Message us on WhatsApp with your order number, and check the help center for common fixes.
Common questions
Do I need internet to install an eSIM?
Yes. Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network while you install, ideally at home before your trip.
Can I install my eSIM before I travel?
Yes, and we recommend it. Install it on Wi-Fi at home, then turn the Burj line on for mobile data and data roaming when you arrive.
When does my plan start?
Each plan's validity is shown before you buy. When that period starts can differ between plans, so if you're not sure, message us before you install.
